Lily Tung Crystal

Lily Tung is a writer, TV producer, and media and communications trainer. She currently works for Indigo Films as a writer/producer on Investigation Discovery’s I (Almost) Got Away With It and Wives With Knives. She has also written and produced for programs on Travel Channel, BIO, Nat Geo, and Discovery Health.

In addition, she copywrites for Sutter Health’s flagship magazine SideBySide, after previously contributing to its Hands-on Healing magazine and Healthy Kids and Kidney Review newsletters. 

As one of the 2010 recipients of TCG’s Bay Area Commissioning Grant, Lily has contributed to American Theatre Magazine. She is a former contributor to ARTicles, the blog of the National Arts Journalism Program (NAJP). She was a Fellow there in 2003-2004 when the program was based at Columbia University and later served on its board.

Lily began her career in 1994 in Shanghai, China where she was a pioneer in English-language journalism and the coverage of contemporary Chinese culture. She served as the launching editor of Shanghai Talk, the city's first English-language monthly. She also covered China for The New York Times, The Wall Street Journal, Newsday, NBC News, Associated Press Television, WGBH Boston, Asiaweek, The South China Morning Post, Fodor’s Guides, Insight Guides, and National Geographic Magazine. Lily was one of the first foreign consultants of the Shanghai Television English News, where she worked directly with the Chinese press as a reporter and producer.

Lily returned to the US in 1999 and became a writer and segment producer at KRON 4 Television in San Francisco, where she wrote for the flagship daily news shows and produced segments on arts and culture, news and current affairs.  After leaving KRON in 2004, she continued to write and produce for NBC News and ABC News.  

Because of her media expertise, Lily also works with JAM Communication Skills and Make Your Point Communications as a senior consultant.  She specializes in media training, as well as presentation and moderator skills training.
